Firearm regulations haven’t worked in the past and they haven’t worked today. The National Firearms Act of 1934 was designed to be the “end all, be all” to “gun violence”. It heavily restricted several kinds of firearms under the illusion that criminals would follow further laws; surprise! They didn’t.
Garden State gun owners fight back against fallacious, anti-gun regime that describes self-protection as useless and handguns as too dangerous for law-abiding Americans to operate.
New Jersey has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation. But a group is fighting to change that and they are taking that message to the people.
NRA board director and FFL dealer imparts a unique perspective concerning the motives behind gun control laws that seek to control, rather than protect good citizens from dangerous criminals and corrupt government.
This week I was able to talk with Kevin Dixie owner of No Other Choice Firearms Training LLC. I first found out about Kevin through a podcast I was listening to that he was a guest on. As I listened to that podcast I heard a gentleman explaining that we are members of a community first and the gun owner is just a part of who we are as a part of that community. He explained that we needed to present ourselves and who we are and quit trying to force the conversation about guns. I continued to listen and I was more and more impressed and it was then that I decided I needed to find out more about this guy.
Unfortunately, up to 2,000,000 times per year, American citizens are forced to use a firearm in a self-defense situation. What happens after these incidents play out? When the smoke clears and the casualties are counted, what can the average citizen expect to endure?
As many know, I am a strong believer and supporter of the words found in the 2nd Amendment, in particular “Shall Not Be Infringed”. I will concede that these words were written in a different society at a completely different time… but so was the 1st amendment, the 3rd, the 4th, the 5th, and so on and so forth.
What I have is experience. You see, not too long ago, my wife and I were forced to exercise our Second Amendment right to bear arms in the defense of our lives, and that of our then seven-year-old grandson.
As a gun owner, as an American, as a freedom lover I 100% believe in the Bill of Rights. The question I want to pose to you right now is…are you? Or are you just in it for the parts that you like? If you answered “I am” to the last question…how are you any different than those who want to abolish the 2nd Amendment?
The influence for the design of “Liberty” came from the Revolutionary War, the arguments and quarrels leading up to the war and the after math of the war. We wanted the size and shape of the rifle to embody that of the original musket. The original muskets used in the Revolutionary War weighed approximately 14 pounds and were about 42 inches long. “Liberty” weighs approximately 17 pounds and is a whopping 45 inches long. This rifle is truly custom and unique, from it’s one off aluminum butts-tock to the 20″ hand-guard, with a custom 26″ octagon bull barrel chambered in .338 Federal. We’ve topped this rifle off with a high end scope instead of a bayonet to allow for better accuracy at distances out to 500 yards.
