Month: January 2019

Randy Couture and “Liberty”

The influence for the design of “Liberty” came from the Revolutionary War, the arguments and quarrels leading up to the war and the after math of the war. We wanted the size and shape of the rifle to embody that of the original musket. The original muskets used in the Revolutionary War weighed approximately 14 pounds and were about 42 inches long. “Liberty” weighs approximately 17 pounds and is a whopping 45 inches long. This rifle is truly custom and unique, from it’s one off aluminum butts-tock to the 20″ hand-guard, with a custom 26″ octagon bull barrel chambered in .338 Federal. We’ve topped this rifle off with a high end scope instead of a bayonet to allow for better accuracy at distances out to 500 yards.

NEW Kahr Handguns for 2019

I have always been a fan of Kahr Arms handguns. They produce some of the smallest and lights pistols in today’s market. The reliability and craftsmanship of the Kahr models instills the confidence I need when carrying my Kahr P9 everyday. There is just something about that smooth double-action trigger that consistently keeps me coming back to Kahr Arms.

Ontario Rat 1 Review

Budget knives are a point of interest for many, me included. We want an EDC knife that isn’t just going to shatter on us under any kind of abuse, is cheap to replace, and doesn’t break within a year’s time of use. This was the exact intent of the Ontario Rat 1, as when I bought it I had just began a job as an animal caretaker. Sure enough, over the last few years the Rat 1 has really proven itself as an excellent budget option.

NEW Steyr A2 MF Handgun – You Gotta See This

Steyr unveiled their new pistol at Shot Show that many gun enthusiasts were anticipating. It’s called the Steyr A2 MF (modular frame). This new model from Steyr offers shooters to personally customize the grip to fit their hand-size. Shooters can now inter-change various sizes of grip panels and back-straps to suit the perfect grip for them. Add to that, Steyr added more aggressive texturing for a firm purchase that increases control of the pistol when shooting.

Streamlight MicroStream Review

Shortly after giving a friend my Streamlight Stylus Pro, I realized that I was missing an important part of my EDC, a not-so-bright light that I can just pull out fast for inspection purposes. I had already been looking at the MicroStream due to it’s size and price; for $15 and Streamlight’s reputation how could one go wrong?

What can Islamberg bomb plot tell us about NYS gun control proposals

We can speculate the effectiveness of gun restriction legislation in a real-world example – the attempted bombing of Islamberg, NY. This is not to lessen the planned horrendous crime, but to try to find a benefit to the public in finding ways to prevent such terrorism. While this cannot be definitive, especially as much is not known, we can generalize to an extent. The questions are thus, can any proposed 2019 legislation make the public safer and is it worth the trade-off in freedom?

Guns in Oil

Some time ago, we learned of Randall Sappington.  What drew our attention to him was a couple of posts in the “Religion of Arms” Facebook group.  What appeared to be staged photographs of Historical Firearms were actually paintings….his paintings.  Once we knew what it was that we were looking at, we were blown away.

NY State to stomp on legal firearm possession

The 2019 State of the State of New York announcement by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, is expected to include several anti-Second Amendment proposals, a peek to what can be expected occurred in Rochester NY. On January 14, 2019, police were notified of an individual in possession of a shotgun in a residence. This resulted in deployment of SWAT and shutdown of the area in the early morning hours. The questions that should be asked are, what crime occurred and how much worse will the single Party Government of NY punish firearm owners?
