Liberty First Foundation taking actionThe Religion of Arms was started because people saw a direct threat to the Second Amendment.  At that time we had quite a few members that we very active in the group. They we passionate about preventing the infringement upon the Second Amendment and our right to self-protection.  We were taking action!

Since that time, a lot has happened in our country.  It seems the people pushing for gun control are focused on other issues.  At the same time though the activity in our group has noticeably decreased.  It seems as though the passion that was once present in the Religion of Arms is no longer there.

Take action to stop the gun granners
WASHINGTON, DC – OCTOBER 04: Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) (C) and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) points to a photograph of a rifle with a “bump stock” during a news conference to announce proposed gun control legislation at the U.S. Capitol October 4, 2017 in Washington, DC. In reaction to Sunday’s mass shooting in Las Vegas that left 59 people dead and hundreds injured, Feinstein’s legislation would ban devices that could make weapons fully automatic. The people that were pushing for stricter gun regulations have not gone away.  They have not forgotten about the legislation that they so desperately pushed for.  They are still organizing and looking for new reasons to steal our rights away.  Even though they may not be in our faces with their anti-gun rhetoric they are still there.  What do we do?  We lose focus and we quit working to not only defend the Second Amendment but to change the perceptions people have about guns.

Complacency

If we always wait until this group or that group threatens our rights, we will continue to be on defense.  Instead, we need to change our tactics and right now is a great time to move forward.  We have to work even harder promoting guns as tools for self-protection.

If we only act when the gun-grabbers are working to get another piece of legislation to further restrict our rights, we will find that one day we will no longer have the support that is needed to prevent further damage to the Second Amendment.   We cannot afford to be complacent not now or we will lose the very means to insure that our country remains free.

Take Action instead of always reacting

Have a conversation and take actionIt does not take a lot to start changing perceptions that people hold.  A simple conversation with your neighbor about a time when a gun save a person’s life.  Or, maybe donating to whatever pro-Second Amendment organization that you choose to.  You could offer to take someone to the range that has never shot a gun.  We have to take action or the false perceptions will continue and we will one day see that it is too late.

One of the ways to take action is to join with groups like the Liberty First Foundation and to become active with in them.  Join in with the activities that they are doing and volunteer to help with those activities.  The more we interact with those that are not gun-owners and show them that we are everyday people the more they will accept us  and the more comfortable they will be with guns.
