IMG_20180218_185545_797Let’s face it, 1911’s are incredible handguns that are beautifully historic, functionally superior and amazingly accurate shooting handguns. You guessed it, I’m a huge fan of 1911’s. There is nothing like that short single action trigger that makes an average shooter feel like a professional. When I’m having a rough day at the range, I load up my full-size Desert Eagle 1911G and my problem is solved. The supreme accuracy a 1911 handgun delivers is a confidence booster that, in my opinion, cannot be duplicated.

What many people do not consider, is how many various types of 1911 handguns are available in today’s market. So, I decided to dig into my safe and pull out six different types of 1911’s to show off how many choices are actually available. Each pistol featured holds a special place in my heart. I broke this review down into six different types of 1911’s with a featured handgun to support each category, along with some range shooting with each gun. The categories are: 1. Custom 1911 2, 10mm 1911 3. Sub-Compact 1911 4. High Capacity 1911 5. Conversion 1911 6. Standard 1911

  1. I’m partial to my 2016 Colt Gold Cup Trophy. Nicest trigger I’ve ever felt. Crisp break, no creep at all, minimal reset travel, and all in about 2.75lbs.
