We need to keep the pressure on New York State Senators to reject all 5 Red Flag Bills in the State Legislature. While the major news media in New York State (and the country) have pushed the highly distracting partisan message that the US Government is akin to Nazi Germany, the dearth of coverage of these Constitution-killing “Red Flag” Bills – sometimes called ERPO or Extreme Risk Protection Orders – remains deafening. But citizens are learning the facts for themselves.
Already there have been several posts, created and shared, via all forms of social media. These include articles, posts, and a petition by this writer, as shared here and on other websites. That petition – Tell NY State Senators to defend Due Process, firearms and families – Say NO to Red Flag Bill – notes the following:
“Imagine that, without your knowledge or warning to you, across the State, without Due Process, part-time temporary coaches, or school nurses, or school administrators can use power of Government to remove firearms from homes based on a Facebook post or text. And it results in the children of those homes being removed by CPS. This is what Gov. Andrew Cuomo is trying to have enacted via Red Flag law in New York State.”
The result has been a growth in attention and concern among many elected officials and the general public. But efforts must continue and a critical mass attained. Because the consequence of inaction against the active efforts of Governor Cuomo are these ERPO’s becoming law.
Potentially they are even more dangerous than the enactment of the SAFE Act, which overnight caused firearm owners to become targets. This at a time when the Far Left is actively identifying Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and individuals it does not approve. Antifa has even gone so far as to track, record, and publicly release video of a father and son because the father works for ICE.
Thus we should not only act on the call to action, but make others aware. It is only through action – in conversations with our peers, on social media, letters to editors, conversation on talk radio, and most of all contact with our State Senators – that we can retain Government and our Constitutional Rights, the cornerstone of our nation, that is:
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
